Simultaneous Interpreting, Multilingual Translation & More...

IPI provides professional interpreting services anywhere in the U.S.A., with an emphasis on the Southeast United States. Our highly trained professional linguists are available for any multilingual event, from intimate board meetings to major global conferences. Our simultaneous interpreters are graded level A by associations such as the American Association on Language Specialists (TAALS) and the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC). Our own stringent quality control standards require our simultaneous interpreters to meet United Nations and U.S. State Department standards.

Simultaneous (U.N. Style) Interpreting
The highest level of spoken interpreting, it is usually critical for larger multilingual meetings and conferences.

  • Requires special interpreting equipment which allows interpreters to hear the speaker directly through headsets. From a soundproof booth, interpreters immediately translate into the target language, transmitting to audience members wearing receivers.
  • Requires two interpreters per language.

Consecutive Interpreters
This type of interpreting is very flexible. From French translators to Mandarin translators, it is known as the easiest method.

  • Perfect for board meetings, seminars, technical tours, on-site facility tours and negotiations.
  • Involves the presenter(s) saying one or two sentences, pausing while the interpreter repeats in another language, and the process continues.

Whispering
Whispering is the same as Simultaneous Interpreting but requires the same skill level — it does not require full simultaneous interpretation equipment and can be done as a type of multilingual translation.

Whispering is usually limited to 2-3 listeners, unless portable equipment is being used.

  • Listeners must stay close to the interpreter in order to hear.
  • Conditions must be appropriate for the interpreter to hear the speaker over his/her own voice (either sitting near the speaker or listening to the speaker via a portable receiver with headphones).
